Eat and drink
The cuisine of Egypt is tasty, but not the most sophisticated.
Do not expect therefore any culinary delights! The cuisine is Middle Eastern, but also influenced by the Greek, French and Italian cuisine. There are also Lebanese, Turkish and Persian dishes.
People who love fish however don't have to worry because everywhere is fresh fish available, such as prawns, lobster, barracuda, squid, tuna, salmon, etc. etc.
Also, chicken and lamb are mostly on the menus. Try out the nice tahina sauce (made from sesame seeds).
In addition to all this there is also in Dahab pizza, Chinese and even
Mexican food to order.
In Home Habibi there is a guest book with tips from our guests showing their favorite restaurants in Dahab.
Fresh fruit juice, tea and coffee is sold at almost every street corner. Whoever wants to can smoke Shesha pipe. The taste of the tobacco ranges from apple, cherries, strawberries, honey and even coca cola.
Coffee (ashwa) is made the Turkish way, and is very strong, served in small cups. But Nescafe's just as well known as in Europe.
Home Habibi however has its own coffee maker so if you bring your own coffee from home, you can make your favourite cup of coffee.
Alcoholic drinks
In most restaurants in Dahab alcoholic beverages like beer, wine and spirits are not for sale in restaurants.
There are however liquor stores where you can buy all sorts of wine, beer, etc.
If you would like to have a beer or wine with your meal, it is also no problem to bring a bottle to a restaurant.
To get an indication of alcoholic beverages in stores: The price of a good bottle of wine is approximately 5 Euro. The price of a local beer is about 1 Euro. The price of liquor varies naturally but is significantly cheaper than in Europe.
