Dahab

Dahab is small and relaxing town. There is no mass tourism as you find in Sharm El Sheikh and Hurghada. There is a special atmosphere of calmness, relaxation and warmth.

If you like to spend hours in a discotheque and go out until the early hours of dawn, do not go to Dahab, because you won't find any.

Of course there are a few cafes and a (small) disco, but Dahab is absolutely no entertainment paradise.
The local people are friendly and helpful.

The name Dahab is derived from the Arabic word for gold (Dhahab), referring to the beautiful beaches. In the past, Dahab was called a hippie paradise or also known as the Koh Samui of the Middle East.

Presently, the charismatic town has an interesting array of multicultural restaurants, cafes, bazaars, Internet cafes, hotels and camps. On the boulevard between Masbate and the Lighthouse it is always very pleasant. On the one side of the boulevard you will find numerous small shops selling all kinds of Egyptian trinkets, jewelry and of course various spices, carpets and papyrus. On the other hand, the right by the sea atmospheric restaurants and cafes with a great view of the Red Sea and the distant mountains of Saudi Arabia.

With its kilometers long and almost pristine beaches, it is indeed an ideal destination for a sporting holiday.

For example, for surfers, there is almost every day a nice breeze inviting them to the clear blue water to surf. And for divers and snorkellers the underwater world is awaiting them to see the magical world of the famous coral reefs associated with colorful fish.
